In response to the West’s proposal to hold a meeting of the UN Security Council on February 24 to talk about Ukraine, Russia has requested a meeting for February 17, the country’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said.
“February has begun and our Chinese colleagues are presiding over the UN Security Council this month. We wish them a successful presidency and know that they possess the wisdom and composure needed to fulfill this role. Meanwhile, of course, our Western colleagues do not want the world to forget about Ukraine. Already in the first days (of 2025 )they requested that a meeting be held on February 24, the third anniversary of the beginning of Russia’s special military operation, which they understandably call something else. We did not sit idly by and immediately requested a meeting for February 17, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2202, which approved the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements,” the diplomat wrote on his Telegram channel.
