A Stockholm court on Thursday announced the death of Iraqi refugee Silwan Momika, who burned the Quran.

Swedish media reported that he was killed in a shooting in a nearby city.

Silwan Momika, 38, had burned and desecrated the Quran in Sweden.

Videos of the Quran burning spread around the world, sparking anger and criticism in several Islamic countries, and leading to riots and unrest in several places.

Authorities were investigating him for incitement against ethnic groups in Sweden.

The Stockholm District Court said that a verdict had been postponed on Thursday in a trial in which Momika was accused due to the defendant’s death.
