PUMA Appoints Archie McEachern as Vice President of Basketball

Date:

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

Sports company PUMA has appointed industry veteran Archie McEachern as the new Vice President of its Basketball business unit. McEachern, who will be based in Boston, is set to begin his role on August 18, 2025, and will report directly to PUMA’s Chief Product Officer, Maria Valdes.

The appointment comes as PUMA continues to strengthen its presence in the basketball market, a segment it re-entered in 2018. McEachern will replace Max Staiger, who departed the company earlier this year. His arrival is expected to build on the positive momentum PUMA has seen in the category, which includes the creation of popular products like the MB series of signature shoes and collaborations with high-profile brand ambassadors such as NBA and WNBA stars LaMelo Ball and Breanna Stewart.

McEachern brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a career that includes several international leadership positions in merchandising, product creation, and sales at companies like Nike and VF Corporation. He also served as the CEO of a basketball innovation startup, 360 Hoops.

“With Archie, we’ve brought on a seasoned expert who understands both product and the culture of our consumers,” said Maria Valdes in a company press release. “Basketball has always been a part of PUMA’s DNA, and as the game continues to grow globally, we’re confident that Archie will help elevate our legacy and expand our impact on and off the court.”
