On Tuesday, The Washington Post newspaper published a paper from the "leaked documents" with a report stating that Egypt "planned to supply Russia with thousands of missiles," which was denied by both Egyptian officials and the Kremlin spokesman.

The American newspaper pointed out that one of the recently leaked secret American documents stated that “Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered the production of 40,000 missiles to be secretly shipped to Russia, in addition to plans to supply Moscow with artillery shells and gunpowder, to help it in its war on Ukraine.

According to the leaked document, dated February 17, Egyptian president El-Sisi ordered military officials in his country to keep the production and shipment of missiles secret, "to avoid problems with the West."

For its part, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry responded to these claims and denying these allegations, pointing out that they are not true, and affirming Egypt's position, which has existed since the beginning, not to interfere in the war in Ukraine, and to maintain an equal distance with the two parties.

The official spokesman of the Kremlin also confirmed that Russia denies these reports circulating about Egypt's plans to supply Russia with thousands of missiles "secretly", and considers it just "another fabrication".

The newspaper quoted Senator Chris Murphy as saying, "Egypt is one of the oldest allies of the United States of America in the Middle East, and if it is true that President Sisi is secretly building missiles for Russia that can be used in Ukraine, then we need a serious review of our relations."

In turn, the Biden administration's nominee for the top human rights position in the former State Department, Sarah Margon, told the newspaper that
“The intentional sale and delivery of missiles to the Russian government go far beyond acceptable behavior, especially for an ostensibly close ally of the United States.”

"What was revealed in the document, if true, raises questions about whether the United States should continue to defend and support Egypt," Margon added.

On the other hand, the newspaper quoted the Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Ahmed Abu Zeid, as saying that Egypt's position was based from the outset on not interfering in the war in Ukraine, and maintaining an equal distance with both sides.

Abu Zeid affirmed "Egypt's support for the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and international law."

An official Egyptian source also denied what came in the leaked intelligence document, and confirmed, "What the newspaper published is an informational absurdity that has no basis in truth."

The source added that Egypt follows a balanced policy with all international parties and that the determinants of this policy are peace, stability, and development.

The newspaper also quoted an unnamed US government source as saying, "The US government has no knowledge of these plans and we have not seen that happen."

The leaked document is one of several recently leaked via social media. The American newspaper says that it obtained the documents, as part of a group of secret file images published between February and March on the “Discord” website, which is a popular application among fans of electronic games.

It seems that the leaked documents show very details from the US intelligence on the state of the Russia-Ukraine war.
These leaks were not limited to confidential materials about Ukraine but exceeded them to include information about US allies as well as countries in the Middle East.
