In demonstrations rejecting military rule, some 4 million Sudanese gathered in the streets of the three capital cities of Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum, and more than 25 Sudanese cities and 50 cities around the world.

Noting that they had appalled citizens, the Guinean Ministry of Defence declared, "To counter an armed attack by rebels on the presidential palace and to restore security and calm."

Via a plane from Addis Ababa, the EKC said that the Sudanese authorities had been able to seize a shipment of weapons at Khartoum International Airport.
