Veteran French tennis player Jill Simon said he would temporarily stop participating in the tournaments for an unspecified period in order to maintain his psychological integrity.
Simon (36 years old) was ranked sixth in the world, the highest he has achieved throughout his career in 2009, but has not scored a title since 2018, while currently ranking 68th in the world.
Simon wrote on Twitter: "Not wanting to travel and participate in tournaments in these circumstances, I unfortunately have to stop participating in competitions in order to maintain my psychological integrity."
"I hope my morale improves as soon as possible," Simon added.
Simon had previously been runner-up in the Australian Open and Wimbledon, but was knocked out of the first grand slam this season after defeating 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 to the Greek Stefano Stettipas.
Simon recently participated in the Southern French Open, where he lost to Austrian Denis Novak in the first round.
