A trade agreement between the United States and China "has been suspended (now) because of Hong Kong law," the Xios news website said.

Citing a source close to US President Donald Trump's negotiating team, the report said the agreement also stalled because more time was needed for Chinese President Chi Jinping's domestic policies.

The law, signed by Trump on Wednesday and supporting Hong Kong protesters, is a serious interference in China's affairs, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
