US President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to cut support from General Motors after the world's largest automaker ,after the biggest company General Motors said that it would to stop production at five North American plants and shed some 15,000 jobs.

"The United States has saved General Motors and we are now looking to reduce all support for it, including electric cars," Trump said in a tweeted .

Electric cars from GM produce a tax deduction of $ 7,500 under federal law, but it is not clear how the administration can impose restrictions on such discounts or whether Trump is considering other types of subsidies.

GM said in a statement ;

"GM committed to maintaining a strong manufacturing presence" in the United States after investing $ 22 billion in operations there since 2009 and adding new jobs to the electric and self-propelled vehicles sector.
