Delhi Schools Rocked by Hoax Bomb Threats, Sparking Panic

Date:

NEW DELHI – July 14, 2025

A wave of panic swept through Delhi on Monday morning after three prominent schools received identical bomb threats via email, prompting immediate evacuations and extensive search operations by police and emergency services. While all threats were ultimately declared hoaxes, the incidents caused significant disruption to the academic day and raised concerns about school safety.

The schools targeted were Navy Children School in Chanakyapuri, CRPF Public School in Dwarka, and another CRPF school in Rohini. Authorities were alerted around 8:00 AM local time, initiating a swift and coordinated response.

Rapid Response and Evacuations

Upon receiving the threat emails, school administrations immediately implemented emergency protocols, evacuating students and staff to ensure their safety. Delhi Police, along with bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and fire tenders, rushed to the respective locations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh confirmed the prompt action: “Early on Monday morning, Dwarka North police station received a PCR call informing about a bomb threat at CRPF School here. The area was promptly sanitized. Local police, sniffer dogs, and bomb disposal squads reached the school and conducted due checks.” Similar operations were carried out at the other two affected schools.

The thorough searches, which lasted for several hours, yielded no suspicious items or explosives at any of the locations. A senior police officer later confirmed, “No suspicious items were found during the search, and the incidents were confirmed to be hoaxes.”

Investigation Underway to Trace Source

While the immediate danger has passed, investigations are now underway to identify the source of the threatening emails. Cyber police experts are actively examining digital records to trace the sender and determine if the threats are linked.

This is not the first instance of Delhi schools being targeted with false bomb threats. Similar incidents caused widespread alarm in the capital last year, and in February this year, a private school and a Delhi University college also received hoax bomb threats. In response to these recurring threats, the Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a comprehensive 115-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in May for handling such situations in schools. The SOP emphasizes treating every threat as real, ensuring immediate alerts to authorities, and outlining clear evacuation routes.

The incidents on Monday caused considerable panic among students, parents, and school staff, disrupting the day’s academic schedule. Authorities are urging calm and assuring the public that all necessary measures are being taken to enhance security and prevent future occurrences of such disruptive hoaxes. The investigation continues as police work to bring those responsible to justice.
