Another painful blow for Barcelona after falling at home against Leganes

Date:

Lamin Yamal, the player of the Spanish team Barcelona, is expected to be absent for up to four weeks after suffering an ankle injury in the match that the team lost to Leganes.

The 17-year-old Spain international was forced off in the 75th minute of the match, which Barcelona lost 0-1, after injuring his right ankle.

Further tests the player underwent on Monday revealed that he suffers from ligament damage and will be absent until the beginning of the new year.

The club said in a statement that the examinations the player underwent on Monday revealed that he suffered from a first-degree injury to the ankle ligaments. The player is expected to be out of action for 3 to 4 weeks.

The British news agency reported (P.Eh.Media) that the injury will be another painful blow for Barcelona, who have won only one game in the last 6 La Liga matches, as the gap between Barcelona and rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid has narrowed.

Yamal will miss the match against Atletico Madrid, who are in second place on goal difference behind Barcelona, scheduled for next Saturday.

The Atletico clash will be Barcelona’s last before the winter break, but Yamal may be back in time for the Spanish Super Cup match against Athletic Bilbao in early January.
