When maps turn into weapons, the battle is no longer on the ground but in the minds of people. Egypt today faces a dangerous media plot that redraws its borders in a way that threatens national unity and global perception.
Dr. Abeer Almadawy , writer and thinker, has sounded the alarm over a new media campaign promoted by pro-Muslim Brotherhood outlets, Israeli platforms, and Al Jazeera, which circulate distorted maps depicting Sinai as a separate entityfrom the Arab Republic of Egypt.

According to Dr. Almadawy, “the map itself reveals the hidden intentions.” While Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia are shown as independent states, Sinai is highlighted as if it were a sovereign country, while Palestine is completely erased. Such imagery, she warns, delivers a dangerous psychological message to readers locally, regionally, and internationally — the suggestion of a so-called “State of Sinai.”

She emphasized that these attempts fall within the framework of the Fourth-Generation Warfare, where images and symbols are weaponized to reshape public consciousness. Similar campaigns have been witnessed before, such as the manipulation of Egypt’s official map by excluding the Hala’ib and Shalateen Triangle.
Dr.Almadawy rged the Egyptian authorities — notably the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Strategic Planning and Development, and the Ministry of Information — to act swiftly in order to safeguard Egypt’s geographic representation on global platforms and digital maps. She stressed that Sinai is and will remain an integral Egyptian governorate, representing less than a quarter of Egypt’s total landmass, and cannot be separated from the nation under any circumstances.
She concluded with a firm warning:
“This is not just about geography. The integrity of Egypt’s map is a matter of national security. Confronting such manipulative imagery is essential to protecting our collective consciousness and our sovereignty.”
