Cleveland Browns Rookie Quinshon Judkins Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Date:

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – July 13, 2025 – Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins, 21, was arrested on Saturday, July 12, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, amid allegations of domestic violence. He has been charged with misdemeanor battery (domestic) and is currently being held in Broward County Main Jail without bond.

Authorities with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department confirmed that officers responded to a delayed battery report on Saturday morning. Following a preliminary investigation and speaking with the victim, Judkins was taken into custody. Details surrounding the specific incident leading to the arrest have not been fully disclosed by law enforcement at this time.

The Cleveland Browns organization has issued a brief statement, indicating they are “aware and gathering more information” regarding the situation. Judkins, who was selected by the Browns as the 36th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was expected to report for rookie training camp on Friday, July 18. His legal status and incarceration cast significant doubt on his immediate future with the team.

This arrest comes at a particularly sensitive time for Judkins, as he is one of several second-round draft picks who has yet to sign his rookie contract, reportedly due to ongoing negotiations regarding guaranteed money. The misdemeanor battery charge carries a maximum penalty under Florida law of one year in jail, one year of probation, and a $1,000 fine.

Beyond the criminal proceedings, Judkins is also subject to the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. League precedent suggests that even a misdemeanor charge related to domestic violence could result in a suspension or placement on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. The NFL has yet to release an official statement on the matter, stating they are “aware of the matter, but will decline further comment” at this time.

Judkins, a highly touted running back who played for Ohio State, was anticipated to compete for a significant role in the Browns’ offense this upcoming season, especially with questions surrounding the return of veteran running back Nick Chubb from injury. His arrest presents a significant public relations challenge and an unwelcome distraction for the Cleveland Browns just days before the start of training camp.

A court hearing for Judkins is reportedly scheduled for Sunday, July 13. The identity of the victim has not been released.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
