U.S. State Department Avoids Confirming Support for Ukraine’s Territorial Integrity

Date:

WASHINGTON

The U.S. State Department has refrained from explicitly confirming Washington’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, raising questions about the Biden administration’s stance on the ongoing conflict.

During a press briefing, State Department press chief Tammy Bruce was asked whether the U.S. favored Ukraine’s territorial integrity. She responded, “Now, if we were at a seminar, I would love to have that conversation with you, but I won’t [do it] today.”

Uncertainty Over U.S. Position

Bruce’s remarks suggested that Washington might be awaiting new proposals from both Moscow and Kiev regarding conflict resolution.

“Well, if there were new proposals, I wouldn’t stand here and say we were waiting for new proposals,”

she stated, without elaborating.

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance confirmed that both Russia and Ukraine had submitted proposals as part of the peace process, with efforts now focused on finding a middle ground.

Fluid Situation in Ukraine

Bruce acknowledged that discussions surrounding Ukraine’s future remain ongoing and dynamic.

“These are efforts and conversations that I have to say are really 24/7,” she assured reporters.

“We’ve got to see progress in order for us to understand the process and how our posture in that will continue, and that becomes the question.”

International Reactions

The lack of a clear U.S. stance on Ukraine’s territorial integrity has sparked speculation among analysts and policymakers. Some experts believe Washington is reassessing its approach, while others argue that the administration is waiting for diplomatic breakthroughs before making definitive commitments.
