The embassy emphasized that India’s actions were focused, precise, and non-escalatory in nature.

“No Pakistani civilian, economic, or military targets have been hit. Only known terror camps were targeted,” the statement added.

Background of the Strikes

India’s Defense Ministry confirmed that the country’s armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, striking nine targets in Pakistan and areas under its control in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was reportedly aimed at terrorist infrastructure, following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.

Rising Tensions Between India and Pakistan

Relations between India and Pakistan have become increasingly strained following the Pahalgam attack. India has accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of involvement in the attack, which was allegedly carried out by the Lashkar-e-Taiba group.

In response to the escalating situation, both New Delhi and Islamabad have imposed mutual restrictions on diplomatic personnel, suspended bilateral agreements, and closed their airspace to each other’s flights. Reports indicate exchanges of fire along the Line of Control, further heightening tensions.

International Reactions

The United Nations and several world leaders have urged both nations to exercise restraint. The U.S. Secretary of State has stated that the situation is being closely monitored, expressing hope for a peaceful resolution.

This developing crisis has raised concerns about regional stability, given that both India and Pakistan are nuclear-armed nations. The international community continues to call for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
