China Refutes US Officials’ Narrative of ‘China Threat’

Date:

China’s cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries is aimed at mutual support and is never driven by any geopolitical calculations, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said during a daily press briefing on Monday.

Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks in response to the “China threat” narrative promoted by some US officials. He said their statements are steeped in ideological bias, a product of the Cold War mentality, and devoid of any truth.

Lin asked, “Who views Latin American and Caribbean countries as their backyard and imposes a ‘new Monroe Doctrine’ on them? Who continues to point fingers at these countries’ internal affairs? Who coerces them with threats of tariffs? Who engages in widespread global surveillance? Who has military bases across the Western Hemisphere? Who allows the flow of small arms, light weapons, and ammunition to Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace?” He noted that the world “well knows” the answers to these questions.

Lin said that China is committed to equality and mutual benefit in its dealings with these countries, and never seeks to gain influence or target any third party.

He added that the United States continues to smear China and promote the so-called China threat to justify its actions to control countries in this region, but this will never work.
