Washington D.C. – April 2, 2025
In a historic move, President Donald Trump signed an executive order today establishing the United States Space Force as a separate branch of the military. This development marks a significant milestone in the country’s space exploration and defense efforts.
The new branch will be headed by General David D. Thompson, who has been appointed as the first Chief of Space Operations. The Space Force will be responsible for organizing, training, and equipping space forces to protect U.S. interests in space and to deter aggression from adversaries.

“This is a momentous day for our nation and our military,” President Trump said during a ceremony at the White House. “The establishment of the Space Force as a separate branch of the military recognizes the critical role that space plays in our national security and our way of life.”
The creation of the Space Force has been a long-term goal of the Trump administration, with the President signing the National Defense Authorization Act in 2020, which laid the groundwork for the establishment of the new branch.
The Space Force will be composed of approximately 16,000 active-duty personnel, who will be transferred from the Air Force. The new branch will also have its own distinctive uniform, insignia, and rank structure.

As the world watches this significant development, Castle Journal (CJ Global ) will continue to provide updates and analysis on the implications of the Space Force on global security and space exploration.
