The US Congress on Monday ratified the victory of Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election to become the forty-seventh president of the country, after its members counted and confirmed the result of the Electoral College vote.
Vice president Kamala Harris, who faced Trump in the November election, said: “Donald J. Trump is a very good candidate. Trump from Florida received 312 votes… And Kamala D. Harris from California received 226 votes, “stressing that this is a” sufficient declaration ” of the eligibility of Trump and his deputy J. D. Vance to be sworn in on January 20.

The Congress met in Washington, covered with a layer of snow, today, to officially ratify the election of Trump as president of the United States, four years after a crowd of his supporters stormed the Capitol building in an unsuccessful attempt to cancel his loss in the 2020 elections.
Trump continued to claim that his defeat in 2020 was the result of large-scale fraud, and he warned throughout his 2024 campaign saying that he had similar fears, until he managed to beat his Democratic rival Harris vice president Joe Biden in the elections last November.
