The South Korean Yonhap news agency reported that supporters of the isolated South Korean President, Yun Suk-Yul, blocked the road in front of his office, today (Thursday), in an attempt to prevent his arrest.

The agency said that the police forcibly broke up a blockade set up by about 30 of Yun’s supporters after they broke through a barrier near the president’s residence in the South Korean capital Seoul.
Filmed footage of the protesters was also shown on South Korean television, the “dpa”reports.

A message of solidarity
Yun sent a message of solidarity to his supporters on the first day of the new year, saying: “due to internal and external forces violating South Korea’s sovereignty and the activities of anti-state groups, the country is now in danger.

“I will fight with you to the end to protect this country,”Yun added.
Yun is under investigation after unexpectedly imposing martial law on December 3 following a budget dispute with the opposition.
