The joint coordination committee between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments in Saudi Arabia held today at the headquarters of the Al-Azhar Sheikh to discuss the emerging issues on the scene and coordinate efforts to counter extremist ideology.

The two sides discussed increasing mutual cooperation in countering misguided ideas and correcting the distorted image of the Islamic religion by extremist organizations and falsifying Islam in some international media, pointing out that terrorism has greatly harmed the stability of the Arab region. To combat the epidemic, which should be eliminated as soon as possible, so that the security and intellectual stability of the region and indeed the entire world will prevail.

The members of the committee agreed to raise the level of coordination between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and work together to raise the level of awareness among the Arab and Islamic peoples, focusing on the minds of young people and directing innovative advocacy messages in their ideas and presentation. Cultures and ethnicities, stressing the concerted efforts between the two sides and get to the ground to immunize Muslim societies of destructive ideas and repel attacks aimed at tearing apart the flesh of the Arab and Islamic nation.

The committee met under the chairmanship of HE Dr. Abbas Shoman, Deputy of Al-Azhar. The delegation of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia represented Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Zaid, Special Advisor to the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Dr. Zaid bin Ali Al-Dikan, Secretary General of the Conference of Ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, And Sheikh Abdul Karim bin Ibrahim Al-Rayes, Director of the Department of Islamic Organizations and Minorities in the Ministry.

The Tanzanian ambassador in Cairo, Mohammed Haji Hamza, paid a private visit to Al-Azhar at the end of his diplomatic term in Egypt and before his return to his country

The Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, welcomed the Tanzanian Ambassador to the Al-Azhar Al-Sharif after receiving and welcoming his visit and wishing him more success during his next term of office.

Sheikh Al-Azhar said that Alazhar is ready to offer more support to Muslims in Tanzania.and the door is opened before the Tanzanians scholars to study at Al-Azhar in Islamic and practical colleges and to recruit Tanzanian imams to train them in a program designed to deal with contemporary issues and problems such as terrorism and atonement.

For his part, the Tanzanian ambassador Mohammed Haji Hamza said that Al-Azhar's pluralistic approach has maintained the stability of societies not only in Egypt but throughout the world, especially in Africa, where Al-Azhar still plays a major role in spreading the true religion of Islam, through Al-Azhar envoys to Africa and receiving African students. To study in Al-Azhar, pointing out that his country looks forward to further cooperation with Al-Azhar in all fields since the Al-Azhar graduates have had a positive impact on achieving community peace.

Al-Azhar Alsharif congratulates the Palestinian people on completing the national reconciliation between the Fatah and Hamas movements, ending the division that lasted more than a decade, noting what the Palestinian brethren have shown to uphold the national interests over narrow sectarian interests.


Al-Azhar hails the pivotal and historical role played by the Egyptian state under the leadership of President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic in accomplishing this reconciliation, which is consistent with the historic role of the Arab Republic of Egypt in supporting the Palestinian cause.


Al-Azhar Al-Sharif calls on the Palestinian people to move forward in the path of consensus and unity, and to reject all that leads to division and division, in order to unite all efforts to support the national struggle for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
